In addition to tips for preparing for the IELTS exam, many students might also wonder about how to check their IELTS test results. There are several ways to check your IELTS scores that candidates can refer to. Typically, candidates can check their results online and receive a hard copy (TRF) 13 days after the written test date for the paper-based IELTS and 3 to 5 days after the test date for the computer-based IELTS.
To ensure information security, candidates’ results are not notified via text message or email. Candidates can check their results online through the system of the center where they registered for the test, or through other reputable sources such as IDP or British Council (https://www.britishcouncil.vn/thi/IELTS/ket-qua). Candidates are required to log in with details including name, date of birth, passport, ID card, and test date before selecting search to check their results. The system will only display the scores if the information you provide is accurate and matches the information you used when registering for the test. If there are discrepancies, you will not receive a score notification.
Additionally, you can pick up your test results directly at the location where you registered for the test (IDP office, British Council, or partner centers of these two entities). Remember to bring your ID card or passport, and make sure to go during business hours!
In case you are unable to pick up the certificate and need a friend or relative to collect it for you, you need to fill out the Authorization Form from the test center and then send it directly to the registration office or via email. Once the test center confirms, the authorized person can bring their original ID card or passport to sign and receive the results on your behalf.
The answer is YES! Before the speaking test, you will be asked if you would like to register to receive your score report at home. You will then be given a Registration Form to send the score report to your home. Simply fill out the information, and you’re done. In case you’re too focused on the exam and forget to say yes, you can still download the Score Report Delivery Registration Form and send it to the official British Council email: exams.hanoi@britishcouncil.org.vn (Hanoi) or exams.hcmc@britishcouncil.org.vn (Ho Chi Minh City).
*Please note: You will only receive one test result report. Within 2 years of taking the test, you can apply to the test center to receive up to 5 additional copies. However, these copies will be sent directly to the universities or institutions requiring IELTS certificates where you are applying. If you want to send additional score reports beyond the 5 copies, you will have to bear the courier costs. For each score report you request, the test center will take at least 10 days to process and deliver it to you.
