About 10 years ago, when people talked about studying abroad, they immediately thought of countries like the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, or Finland. But now, studying in Canada has become a new trend and a top choice for many families. The reasons that make Canada so attractive include social welfare policies, a safe living environment, clean surroundings, and especially the open immigration policies encouraged by the Canadian government. So, is it difficult to meet the requirements to study in Canada? What criteria do you need to meet to study in the land of maple leaves? NEEC will help you explore the basic requirements for studying in Canada and how to prepare a successful study abroad application.
The first condition to study in developed countries like Canada and others such as the US, UK, Australia, etc., is academic ability and the capacity to absorb knowledge. This is clearly reflected in your grades, certificates, and diplomas. Here are the basic requirements to study in Canada:

- A special note for college – university students is that you are allowed to work part-time for 20 hours/week. This is legal under the Canadian government’s labor laws for adult international students. Thus, most students can cover their living expenses through part-time work.
In addition to basic requirements like tuition fees, diplomas, etc., to demonstrate the ability to study, the student’s family needs to prove they have sufficient financial means to cover tuition and living expenses while studying in Canada. The basic financial proof includes:
- Proof of monthly/annual family income: Employment contracts, business licenses, tax receipts, etc.
- A savings account of at least CA$ 50,000, equivalent to VND 900 million – 1 billion per application.
